Because they naturally go together. We associate them with traditional buildings, with the way crafts of the past blended with knowledge of the environment using natural resources. I take pride in sharing the love and affinity I have for these naturally based resources.
However, LIME and STOVES do not have to be always together. Each has a place in its own right. They are both kind to the environment.
Burning wood is carbon neutral; it will only release the same amount of carbon dioxide that it took out of the atmosphere whilst growing as a tree.
Lime as a building material extracts carbon from the atmosphere as it sets. This is because it is trying to return to its natural un-burnt state . . . limestone.
